Find a Daycare
Once your maternity leave is over, you will likely be heading back to work if you decide not to be a stay at home mom. Deciding who will watch your baby is a big part of being a new mom. It can be overwhelming and scary. But finding a great place that will fit your families needs and make your feel comfortable is the most important thing!

Don’t Be Afraid to Ask Questions
The best thing you can do as a new mom is to ask questions. It’s your first time going through pregnancy, birth and having a baby. You are not expected to know everything. Talk to other family members who are moms and ask them any questions you have. No question is too silly. It is hard work becoming a new mom.
Connect with Other Mama Friends
Some of your best friends may already be moms. But you likely didn’t connect with them on that level. Now is a good time to get together and pick their brains. They’ve been through everything you are about to go through so lean on their experience.
Another good idea is connect with a fellow new mom . Maybe it’s someone at work or another friend or family member that is pregnant at the same time or a first time mom. You will be going through the same things at the same time. Lean on each other when you are not getting enough sleep or are unsure of what to do. Forming close relationships with other mom friends will help you so much!
Take a Childbirth Class
A childbirth class will help you know what to expect when you are having your baby. They will discuss how to come up with a birth plan and teach you some basics to take care of a baby. Things such as how to put on a diaper and how to swaddle your baby.
Some days you won’t feel prepared at all to become a mom and other days you won’t be able to wait. It’s perfectly normal to be scared, overwhelmed, excited and happy all at the same time! Good luck and know that no matter what, you are exactly the mom your baby needs!
