Board Games for 5 year olds
It is so much fun when kids start to play board games. It helps them start to use their minds more and helps to teach them how to play games and lose gracefully.  It is also such a fun way to spend some free time!
When kids are 5 years old, they are generally starting kindergarten and are at a great age to learn to play these fun board games.
Board games are also a great way to spend time as a family. Planning a family game night can be a lot of fun! Pick out a great board game and spend some quality time together. They will be fond memories to look back at.
My daughter just turned 5 and has started to enjoy playing board games with us. Her favorite is Candyland! I have been looking to include more board games because she likes to play the same ones over and over again!
If you are like me, you may be thinking, what are the best games to play with 5 year olds? Here are our favorite board games to play with a 5 year old:
Zingo: Â Zingo is a play on bingo and is a great game to play with the whole family. Â You can have up to 7 players and match pictures with the playing card. It can help kids work on their words and associate the pictures.
Guess Who: Guess Who is a classic board game that you play with two players and ask questions to guess who the other player has picked as their person.  This is a strategy game as you try to guess who your opponent has.
Hungry Hungry Hippos: This is a kids favorite and parents least favorite game! There is not a lot of skill to it – there are lots of marbles and you use your hippo to try to eat the most. But it usually gets pretty loud!
Trouble: One of our favorite family games! This is a classic board game where you use a bubble to roll the dice and race game pieces across the board!  The number of players is limited to 4.
Ker Plunk: A fun game for kids – a bunch of sticks hold up all kinds of balls. You take turns taking the sticks out trying to not let the balls fall. Kids love getting into it! It’s the perfect game for younger players. It can also help with fine motor skills as they remove the sticks.
Monopoly Junior: Who doesn’t love a good game of Monopoly? In this junior version, the game board looks similar to the original, but smaller. It moves much quicker and has family friendly properties to buy such as the zoo! It’s also a great way to start teaching kids math skills by counting money.
Eye Found It: This is a fun cooperative game for the whole family to play together. You travel through areas trying to find different objects. The object of the game is to arrive at the end before time runs out. It is fun to have a common goal and can be played with kids of all ages.
Pete the Cat: The Missing Cupcake Game:Â This board game has everyone work together to help find and gather the missing cupcakes by doing fun activities on the challenge cards.
Candy Land: This classic game is one of my top picks to play with young children. Each card has different colors and you move around the board based on those colors. The bright colors really appeal to younger kids. These simple rules make it the perfect game for young kids!
Playing board games with your kids is a great way to spend time and bond as a family. It is a great time for everyone! These board games for 5 year olds are the best! I hope you check them out!
