Baby Book Baskets
When a friend of member of your family has a new baby on the way, you are looking for the perfect gift. They will be getting so many clothes, finding something a little more special is important. A great idea is a baby’s first library gift basket.
Baby books are a wonderful gift to give new parents. They likely don’t have any books for young kids since this is their first child. They may have a hard time knowing where to start.
Reading is such an important thing to do with your baby, even at a young age. Having story time during the day or before bedtime helps to create little bookworms. It will also help with their speech development as they grow up.
A first library gift basket is one of the best baby shower gifts you could give to a new mom!
How Do I Put Together A Baby Gift Basket with Children’s Books?
This is the best part – you can get creative with putting together a baby book gift basket. You start with a basket of any kind. It would be helpful to pick something that could be repurposed by the new parents. Maybe it could be used to hold extra diapers or clothes. It could also be used to make a little book nook in the nursery.
Add a little tissue paper in the bottom for a nice added touch. Then if you are still feeling like you are just giving a basket of books, you could add a personal touch by including a sweet cuddly bear or other stuffed animal.
Then the fun starts – you get to add in the books! A good place to start is with their baby registry. It likely includes some of the parents favorite childhood books so those would be perfect to include.
Next you can think of some books with classic characters to include such as the Very Hungry Caterpillar and Brown Bear Brown Bear.
Then you can add in some classic board books.
Literally anything by Sandra Boynton is good addition. Her books can be a silly rhyming book or something that the kids will talk about for years to come. One of our favorites is the Belly Button Book. My kids still call their belly buttons “bee bos”!
Another great book is If Animals Kiss Goodnight. This book is so adorable and really a cute read. It’s another one of our favorites!
Some different types of books that you could get:
a picture book (such as the First 100 Words Book)
a flap board book (where little hands can pull up the flaps to reveal a new picture)
Indestructibles (books that cannot be ripped or destroyed!).
a book with feel elements (where young children can feel what is described in the story)
a puppet book (where you can use the puppet to help tell the story!)
There are no shortage of children’s books to include in this unique gift. Here are a few other ideas for your baby’s first library gift basket:
No matter what books you include, making thoughtful selections and including some of your favorites will make this the perfect baby shower gift!
