Christmas Activities for 12 days of Fun

During the Christmas season, a popular Christmas carol is the 12 days of Christmas. You know the song – how you give your true love two turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree.

A fun tradition for the family during the holiday season is to do 12 days of Christmas activities together – taking after the 12 days of Christmas song.

The activities do not need to be based on the actual song, but it is a fun way to spend quality time as a family and really get into the holiday spirit.

The month of December is the best time to do this. If this is one of those holiday traditions you would like to start doing with your family members, here are ideas for 12 days of Christmas activities!

On the first day of Christmas we watch Christmas movies together

There is a Christmas movie for everyone! From The Grinch to Elf to A Christmas Story – they are all good and a great way to spend time with the whole family!

On the second day of Christmas, we put up Christmas decorations

There is nothing that gets you ready for Christmas more than putting up Christmas decorations. It is so much fun to turn your house into a Christmas wonderland.

On the third day of Christmas, we cut down a Christmas Tree

Choosing a Christmas tree alone is so much fun – but going to a huge field, with lots of trees to choose from and finding and cutting down your own tree is a family experience not to be missed!

On the fourth day of Christmas, we make Christmas Cookies

Making Christmas cookies is one of the most fun traditions you can do together! Whether you make the same ones every year or decide to try some new ones, it is always a fun time baking the cookies – and then taste testing them!

On the fifth day of Christmas, we build a Gingerbread House

A gingerbread house is something that just reminds me of Christmas – and it’s fun to decorate together! You can buy a pre-made one and just decorate it or build the entire thing!

On the sixth day of Christmas, have a Christmas Dance Party

Christmas music can really get you into the holiday spirit! What is more fun than to have a Christmas dance party – dancing and laughing together is perfect for the soul!

On the seventh day of Christmas, Go Look at Christmas Lights!

One of most fun things to do at Christmas is to ride along with the family and look at Christmas lights. A way to make it extra fun is to print a Christmas light scavenger hunt and try to find all the different types of holiday lights.

On the eighth day of Christmas, read Holiday Books

There are so many great Christmas books to read with the kids such as Little Blue Trucks Christmas and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The best one to read on Christmas eve is Twas the Night before Christmas.

On the ninth day of Christmas, make Hot Cocoa Together

Christimas time is the perfect time for hot cocoa! It is so much fun on a cold day. You can set up some fun toppings such as a little extra chocolate, some cinnamon or mini marshmallows to make it even more fun!

On the tenth day of Christmas, color Christmas Pages

Fun printable Christmas coloring pages is a great, creative activity to do. You can get out the markers, crayons or paint, maybe even add some glitter and have a fun time!
