Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt List
One of my favorite family traditions during the holiday season is going to look at Christmas Lights. Its a great activity for the whole family and is a fun way to get into the holiday spirit.
I love seeing all the different color light displays and what kind of inflatables people have decorated with. There are so many different items to decorate with during the Christmas season.
There is no better way to get into the Christmas spirit than to ride around and look at Christmas lights.
It was my favorite Christmas tradition my family did growing up. Now I go with my husband and kids. Looking at all the Christmas decorations helps make our own Christmas special.
To start our family adventure, we love to pop a bag of popcorn, make up some fun snack bags, put the kids in their jammies with blankets, and pile in the car to go look at Christmas lights.
Another fun idea is to make some hot cocoa, pack up those Christmas cookies and spend Christmas eve with a little competition of finding all those Christmas items. And don’t forget the Christmas music! You could even add in a small prize for the person who finds the most things at the end of the night.

If you have certain houses in mind that may take a little bit to get to, take some free Christmas coloring pages and crayons along with you. It’s a great way to keep the kids occupied.
We’ve driven all around to specific locations to see the best ones, but sometimes you find the most spectacular houses when you are just driving street to street in different neighborhoods.
Last year when my daughter became old enough to understand, I put together a quick and easy Christmas Light scavenger hunt game for her to do while we were out looking at Christmas lights and you know what? She loved it! It was such a fun activity for her!
She couldn’t read the list yet, but we talked about it before we left and then we all looked for the different decorations as we drove around. It became such a fun game to play with the kids while we enjoyed looking at the lights!
Another way to make it fun is to print out a copy for each kid, grab some fun Christmas pens and make it contest!
And if you can think of more, add to this list of things to make the scavenger hunt even more challenging! As you have older kids, it can be made harder! If you want to add another twist, you could even put a time limit on how long everyone has!
